South African Centre for Carbon Capture & Storage

Capacity Building.

One of the central aims of the SACCCS is to build South African human and technical capacity for the development and operation of Carbon Dioxide handling, injection, storage and monitoring. To ensure this aim is fulfilled and that the PCSP leaves a legacy in South Africa, a multidimensional capacity building programme is underway involving:

  • Awareness raising on Climate Change issues CCS through various platforms
  • Bursaries for Honours, Masters and PhD degrees related to CCS;
  • Providing Internships for recent graduates where aplicable; and
  • Integration of South African professionals at all levels of the PCSP structure.

Where necessary, SACCCS will be looking to partner these National and  International counterparts to ensure learning and skills are transferred and remain in South Africa at the conclusion of the PCSP.
